Nepal is widely considered safe for solo travelers, groups, and families. Crime is rare, especially in tourist regions like Kathmandu, Pokhara, and trekking routes such as Everest and Annapurna. Just take regular travel precautions: keep valuables close, avoid isolated areas at night, and book with reputable local operators.

Whether you’re trekking or touring, make sure your insurance covers high altitude trekking and emergency evacuation. Helicopter rescue in the Himalayas can cost thousands if you’re not covered. We highly recommend this for all clients booking any of our Trekking in Nepal packages.
Most treks in Nepal require government-issued TIMS cards and area-specific permits like ACAP (Annapurna) or SAGARMATHA (Everest). Don’t worry—if you book with us, we handle all paperwork.
Your Nepal journey will likely begin in Kathmandu. The city is a sensory overload—temples, markets, scooters, monks, and mountain views. Don’t rush through it. Visit Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Pashupatinath, and Durbar Square, and enjoy a rooftop dinner overlooking ancient palaces.
Altitude sickness can affect anyone trekking above 2,500 meters. Symptoms include headaches, nausea, and shortness of breath.
Tips to avoid it:
👉 All our Everest Region Treks include built-in acclimatization.
You can technically trek solo, but having a licensed guide improves safety, enriches your cultural experience, and supports the local economy. At Himalayan Magic Treks, our guides are government-certified and trained in high-altitude first aid.
Even in Kathmandu or Pokhara, load shedding (power outages) can occur. In remote areas, Wi-Fi is spotty or paid. Bring a power bank, and download maps/music ahead of time.
Many rural areas and teahouses don’t accept cards. ATMs are available in cities, but unreliable in mountains. Bring cash (Nepalese Rupees) and keep small denominations for local use.
Nepal is conservative, especially in rural areas. Cover shoulders and knees in temples and villages. Always remove shoes before entering homes and religious sites.
